Graduate school candidates that are interested to be part of our research group can apply for the position of research student at our Department. Research students do not receive credits from classes but they are welcomed to join our research and academic activities. There are also some classes in uTokyo that are open to research students and thus, research students has both the opportunity to work at our department while learning from other departments as well.
Research student term may last between few months to a year, and may be renewable, depending on research performance.

At our department, students generally come as:
(1) Graduate School Candidate
Graduate school intake for PhD is April and October and intake for MSc program is only offered in April. Students may arrive a few months earlier to prepare for entrance examination or to begin their research prior to the start of their graduate school program

(2) Exchange students
Students that are registered with other institutes may ask to perform part of their research studies at our department.
Opportunities for short-term exchange include AMGEN, JST Sakura Science, and institutes with exchange programs with uTokyo.

Scholarships for research students are typically limited and students may have to pass their entrance examinations to apply for scholarships and other financial assistance.

Acceptance will be based on pre-screen interview, and candidates are evaluated for their potential performance at our Department.
