2026年1月20日（火）、当研究室のモイ・メンリン教授が提唱するフラビウイルス研究の新たな国際的枠組み、「iPREP-Flavivirus Initiative」2026の発足会合を開催いたしました。
* iPREP : Immunology for Pandemic Readiness and Evaluation Platform
当日は、アジア、オセアニア、中東、欧州、北米にまたがる15の国と地域から、国立機関、大学、医療機関など48の機関が参画し、延べ102名の方々にご参加いただきました。
また、国立健康危機管理研究機構の大曲貴夫副院長、石金正裕先生、および元室長の髙崎智彦先生、大学からは北海道大学の江下優樹先生をはじめ、大阪大学、長崎大学、北里大学など、ウイルス感染症や免疫学等の臨床・基礎研究におけるエキスパートの方々に多大なるご協力をいただきました。
モイ教授のこれまでの研究活動、ならびに今回の提唱に対し、多数の皆様からご賛同とご参画を賜りましたこと、深く感謝申し上げます。
本取り組みは、フラビウイルス研究を主軸としながら、地域横断的な研究連携と基盤の高度化を通じ、世界の感染症研究を牽引する先導性と、幅広い分野へ成果を広げる波及性を兼ね備えています。諸外国との強固なパートナーシップによる国際性を重視し、次代の感染症危機管理に資する持続性のある研究基盤の構築を目指しています。
先般の会合では、これまでの活動報告とともに、今後の研究基盤拡充に向けた活発な意見交換が行われました。
今後も、AMED等の研究支援を活用しながら、諸外国との連携をさらに深め、感染症研究および危機管理に資する継続的かつ発展的な国際研究基盤の形成を推進していきます。

The inaugural meeting of the “iPREP-Flavivirus Initiative” 2026 took place on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. The initiative aims to serve as a new international collaborative framework for flavivirus research, bringing together complementary strengths across regions to support preparedness-oriented immunology and translational research.
* iPREP : Immunology for Pandemic Readiness and Evaluation Platform
A total of 102 participants from 48 research institutions and organizations joined the discussion, representing 15 countries and regions across Asia, Oceania, the Middle East, Europe, and the United States.
From Japan, we were honored to welcome leading experts in clinical and basic research on viral infections and immunology, including Dr. Norio Ohmagari (Vice President) and Dr. Masahiro Ishikane from the Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS), and Dr. Tomohiko Takasaki (former Director). In addition to Dr. Yuki Eshita from Hokkaido University, specialists from Osaka University, Nagasaki University, Kitasato University, and other institutions also participated in the initiative.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the many researchers who expressed their strong support for the platform, as well as for their active participation.
While focusing on flavivirus research, the initiative aims to enhance cross-regional collaboration and research infrastructure on infectious diseases. Through this approach, we seek to synergize collaborations in infectious disease research to further strengthen research outcomes across a broad range of related fields. By emphasizing strong international partnerships, the consortium aims to contribute to research leading to measures that are relevant to future infectious disease preparedness.
The meeting featured sharing on past activities and a information exchanged aimed at expanding our future research infrastructure. With the support of public funding from AMED and other organizations, we are committed to building robust partnerships with international research institutions. Through this consortium, we will continue to make steady progress toward sustainable framework, fostering collaboration among international research partners.
