当研究室で研究をおこなってきた、フェネルバフチェ大学のベテュル・アイさん（トルコ国籍）が、2025年8月1日、東京大学内で研究成果の発表をおこない『ベストポスター賞』を受賞しました。おめでとうございます。

ベテュル・アイさんの研究プログラムは、当研究室の専門分野でもある蚊媒介ウイルス感染症のデング熱にフォーカスして、担当指導員の、ヨオ・シーンリアン（アデリーン）特任助教、Melissa Alifa Da Costa 研究生、Jessica Manalaysay 研究生、芳賀和美（旧姓:谷ヶ崎）技術専門職員、モイ・メンリン教授のもと、ベトナムなどアジアで流行するデングウイルスの病原性解析および重症化リスク予測アッセイの構築・改良に関する研究をおこないました。

研究成果は、フェネルバフチェ大学、トルコおよびベトナム関係各所等との共同研究の一環として論文発表をおこなう予定です。

「アムジェン スカラーズ プログラム（Amgen Scholars Program）」とは
米国アムジェン財団の支援のもと、未来の科学者・イノベーターを育成することを目的とし、主に医学・生命科学系分野を専攻する学部学生を対象に実施している夏季短期インターンシップ・プログラムです。
2006年にアメリカで始まり、2008年にはヨーロッパ、そして2015年からはアジアでも東京大学及び京都大学にて実践的、専門的かつ集中的な研究体験の場を提供しています。（東京大学公式サイトより引用）

Ms. Betül Ay from Fenerbahçe University in Turkey, who has been conducting research in our lab, presented her research findings at The University of Tokyo on August 1, 2025, and was awarded the Best Poster Award. Congratulations!

Ms. Betul Ay’s research program, focusing on dengue fever, a mosquito-borne viral infectious disease and one of our laboratory’s specializations, was conducted under the guidance of Assistant Professor Yeo Syin Lian (Adeline), Research Student Melissa Alifa Da Costa, Research Student Jessica Manalaysay, Technical Specialist Kazumi Haga, and Professor Moi Meng Ling. Her research focused on the characterization of Dengue virus circulating in Vietnam and Asean regions, and on improving and evaluating antibody-dependent assays for better characterization of risks of developing severe dengue.

The research findings are expected to be published as part of a collaborative study with Fenerbahçe University and other research institutions in Türkiye and Vietnam.

The study was carried out with the support of Amgen and AMED.

About the Amgen Scholars Program

Funded by the Amgen Foundation, the Amgen Scholars Program is a summer short-term internship designed to cultivate future scientists and innovators. It’s for undergraduate students, primarily those majoring in fields like medicine and the life sciences.

The program started in the U.S. in 2006, expanded to Europe in 2008, and came to Asia in 2015 at The University of Tokyo and Kyoto University. It provides students with practical, specialized, and intensive research experiences.
