日本医療研究開発機構（AMED） 先進的研究開発戦略センター（SCARDA）による、第2回 AMED SCARDA「ワクチン開発のための世界トップレベル研究開発拠点の形成事業」合同シンポジウムを、2025年3月17日から3月19日まで兵庫県・神戸国際会議場にて開催されました。

当教室からは、モイメンリン教授、谷口怜准教授、姫野美沙緒助教の3名のスタッフで参加しました。

先進的研究開発戦略センター（Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response : SCARDA）は、令和3年6月1日に閣議決定された国家戦略（「ワクチン開発・生産体制強化戦略」 PDF）を踏まえて、感染症有事に国策としてワクチン開発を迅速に推進するために平時からの研究開発を主導する体制として、令和4年3月22日に設置されました。
平時にはワクチン開発に関する広範な情報収集・分析を行い、感染症有事を見据えた戦略的な研究費のファンディングへと繋げます。また、ワクチン・新規モダリティ研究開発事業、及びワクチン開発のための世界トップレベル研究開発拠点の形成事業を実施し、平時・有事を通じたマネジメント、全体調整を担います（SCARDA公式サイトより）。

The 2nd AMED SCARDA Joint Symposium of Japan Initiative for World-leading Vaccine Research and Development Centers was held from March 17 to March 19, 2025, at the Kobe International Conference Center in Hyogo, Japan, organized by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) and the Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response (SCARDA).
From our department, three staff members participated and presented at the Joint Symposium: Professor Moi Meng Ling, Associate Professor Satoshi Taniguchi, and Assistant Professor Misao Himeno.
The Strategic Center of Biomedical Advanced Vaccine Research and Development for Preparedness and Response (SCARDA) was established on March 22, 2022, as an initiative to lead research and development in vaccine preparedness during peacetime.

This establishment aligns with Japan’s national strategy, “Vaccine Development and Production System Strengthening Strategy”, which was approved by the Cabinet on June 1, 2021. During peacetime, SCARDA conducts extensive information gathering and analysis related to vaccine development and strategically allocates research funding with a view toward potential infectious disease outbreaks. In addition, it oversees projects such as research and development of vaccines and new modalities, as well as the establishment of world-class research and development centers for vaccine development.
